how quietly
the desert waits
for snow
pitch black
I turn on the porch light
to make it snow faster
clear night sky
January strolls down the street
without a coat
half a jar
of marshmallow creme
at the bottom of the tree
winter wind
blowing the cats
in and out
the way my heart
slips your mind --
black ice
for the prayers
I cannot say out loud...
snow angel
fresh snow
I can hear
every star
snowfall
unpainting
the desert
trapped by this window
the frost
that tries to freeze me in
these fingers
that try to melt me out
dark desert road
beams of snow
from the headlights
for an hour
a snowman and I reminisce
about our childhood
the way
you dig me out
when my mind drifts
how the rain hides
how the snow
tells the truth
snow on the walk
I follow a stray cat
who is long gone
ghost of a leaf
frozen
in a puddle
back of the mountain
last year's snow
meets this year's snow
